Hypertension is a significant risk factor for stroke, causing damage to the aortic wall
The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, highlights the need to understand the virus's genomic diversity and evolution. This study analyzes SARS-CoV-2 data from Mauritania and Morocco using molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics tools. In Mauritania, 58 nasopharyngeal samples were analyzed through RNA extraction, RT-PCR detection, and complete genome sequencing using the Illumina COVIDSeq protocol. Moroccan sequences were retrieved from the GISAID database for comparative analysis. Key bioinformatics tools, including MEGA X and Genome Detective, were used to identify variants, mutations,
Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is a chronic liver disease caused by long-term heavy alcohol consumption. In recent years ethnomedicine has developed new pharmaceutical products based on traditional medicines. Hepaclin-4 (Hep-4) contains the plants that are used for different kinds of fever, as well as liver diseases: Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Saussurrea amara L, Chiazospermum erectum (L) Bernh, and Carthamus tinctorius L. This study, used literature and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform and chemical professional database, the Hep-4 and th
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality, with early-onset CRC (EOCRC) accounting for 10–15% of cases. EOCRC usually shows up in a very advanced stage, with a tumour that is very aggressive and a high chance of metastasising to other organs, especially the liver and lungs. Understanding the metastatic patterns and underlying mechanisms is crucial for improving early detection and treatment strategies. This prospective observational study was conducted at the Department of Digestive Surgery, Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, Surakarta, Indonesia, from January 2024 t
Diabetes is a chronic disease that elevates blood glucose levels, leading to complications affecting the heart, nerves, eyes, and kidneys. A record-based study at Thumbay University Hospital analyzed 334 type 2 diabetic patients using a standardized proforma focused on socio-demographic variables. The study found that cardiovascular disease (CVD) was the most prevalent complication, especially in the 41-60 age group (63.1%), compared to 60+ (35.3%). Gender analysis revealed that CVD
