CHRONIC OTITIS MEDIA SUPPURATIVE: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF GLOBAL RESEARCH TRENDS
Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is a prevalent infectious disease in otolaryngology. It is characterized by persistent discharge for at least two weeks through a long-lasting tympanic membrane perforation. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature published between 2013 and 2023 to comprehensively understand chronic suppurative otitis media and identify the prevailing research trends. All data from the study were extracted from the Scopus collection database, saved in RIS format, and then transferred to VOSviewer (version 1.6.16), NVivo 12 plus, and RStudio. The Scopus database searched for articles published between 2013 and 2023 using the keywords "Chronic otitis media" and "antimicrobial resistance." Seventy-six scholarly documents were published across 56 journals between 2013 and 2023, with authorship attributed to 391 authors. We found a substantial association between overall Chronic Otitis Media Suppurative with a total value of 0.87, which shows a positive correlation. Anaerobic bacteria have been implicated in various infectious diseases, necessitating microbiological evaluation for clinical assessment. Furthermore, practical strategies to reduce infection exposure include avoiding smoke-filled environments, completing vaccinations, and practicing regular hand hygiene with soap and water.
