Frequency Analysis of Incidence of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease in Patients with Chronic Liver Disease Secondary to Hepatitis C

The objective of this research is to examine the frequency of incidence of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases in individuals with hepatitis C virus (HCV), along with the importance of the diseases for advancement of liver fibrosis. In the exploratory study, 898 individuals with chronic liver disease were also involved. With a median age of 55, the participant's gender distribution was 52% female and 48% male. The patients are qualified for antiviral therapy, the researchers concluded after completing a multicenter study in Bangladesh and Pakistan. A study analyzed medical records to determine cardiovascular diseases and hypertension in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Eligible patients met criteria for therapy, including age, HCV RNA diagnosis, liver fibrosis, and extra-hepatic symptoms. Statistical analysis was conducted using chi-square test and SPSS version 26. Hepatitis C infection has been linked to metabolic abnormalities, which are important indicators of risk for cardiovascular disease and hypertension. Age and the advancement of fibrosis are associated with increased occurrences of HCV in women, and women are also more prone to develop hypertension. In individuals with F1 fibrosis (24%), F4 fibrosis (46%), and F3 fibrosis (17%), hypertension was discovered. Patients with HCV have lower frequency of cardiovascular disease, with comparable rates in both genders. More research is necessary to determine the role of hepatitis C infection as a non-classical risk factor for hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
