Identification of self-care for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that usually affects adult people; it causes many complications that in turn affect most of the body's functions. Drug treatments represent an important step in managing the disease and its symptoms, but self-care behaviors have the most prominent role in controlling the symptoms of the disease and preventing its development for the worse. Therefore, identifying these behaviors in patients allows the nursing staff who provides care for them to learn about the weak aspects of these behaviors and their relationship to the patient’s demographic characteristics, so that they can plan appropriate nursing interventions to correct and strengthen these behaviors and change the bad ones.
