Invasive Unit Department of Digestive Surgery, Dr Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta from January – December 2024

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is a diagnostic technique that combines endoscopy and ultrasonography to examine the digestive tract with high resolution. EUS has become an important tool in diagnosing various gastrointestinal diseases. This study aims to evaluate the use of EUS at Dr. Moewardi Hospital in Surakarta throughout 2024 and its effectiveness in diagnosing and managing digestive tract diseases. This descriptive study involved 31 patients who underwent EUS from January to December 2024, with data analysis using SPSS. The majority of patients had an average age of 58.81 years and were predominantly female (70.4%). Most cases in our study were found mass that located in pancreas (16 cases), gaster or stomach (13 cases) and hepar (3 cases). The other mass were found in other organ. EUS was also used for biopsy in 54.8% or 17 cases to obtain more accurate diagnoses. It also used for therapeutic intervention in 5 cases. One patient with pancreatic cyst underwent cystogastrostomy drainage with pigtail. Two cases of pancreatic cyst which was treated with pancreas drainage. One case with bile leak, managed through billiary drainage and pancreatic carcinoma post whipple procedure managed with hepaticogastrostomy drainage. EUS is effective in diagnosing digestive tract diseases, especially for detecting small tumors and performing biopsies. Although it requires high technical skills, EUS plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal diseases.
