Sleep disturbance among children with Diabetes Mellitus in Karbala City

The ability to manage diabetes and overall health are impacted by inadequate sleep. It has been discovered that children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) typically sleep for shorter periods of time and have sleep problems more frequently. This is partly because of episodes of hyper- or hypoglycemia that occur at night. The aim of the research is to determine the sleep disturbance among diabetic children in relationship to their demographic data. Identify the sleep disturbance among children with Diabetes Mellitus in Karbala City. To find out the relationship between the sleep disturbance and demographic data of those children. Descriptive study from Al-Imam Al-Hasan center for endocrine diseases and diabetes in Karbala city. The study conducted at March 2022. Data collected by conducting interviews with the parents of children and adolescents to answer on the instrument of study, Child Sleep Habits Questioner (CSHQ). Revealed that the Iraqi children with type 1 diabetes such had sleep habits disturbance. The study concludes that, there disturbances in sleep habit among children with type 1 diabetes in Iraq, and suggest improving it by implementing the effective sleep hygiene practice for them to improve quality of life as all.
